About

What is PhotoEmbryonic?
This is my photoblog that I use to share my everyday photos with the world. You won’t always find my best shots on the homepage but my latest. It keeps me motivated and it keeps me taking photos.
PhotoEmbryonic is a word I made up to describe my photography. Starting small, ever growing and always learning.
PhotoEmbryonic was a finalist in the Landscape category of the 2011 Photoblog Awards. My thanks to everyone who voted.
Who are you?
I’m Mike Bartholomew. Mid thirties. Married. Father of 2 great kids. I live in the County of Devon in England.
I draw my inspiration from the natural world around us. I’m fascinated by natural history, the theory of evolution and the wonders of the universe. Because of this interest I find myself not only photographing traditional landscapes, but the night sky and the tiny detailed world of macro photography.
Why do you photoblog?
The independent photo blogging community is by far the best image sharing experience I’ve found on the web. Photographers are free from the preset templates of sites like flickr, 500px etc and can present their work how they see fit. We only get one chance on this earth and many of us will never visit all the countries we’d like to before our time is up. Visiting photoblogs of photographers from all over the world is the next best thing for me.
